RVing Full Time

This page will explain some of the challenges while out with your RV for extended trips and explain how to overcome them. There are many questions like. How do I keep in touch with my grandkids. How do I get my mail. How do I find the nearest Walmart, Costco, etc.
Other issues like what is needed to boondock. That's when you camp without electricity, water, and sewer. How much solar power do I need?

Internet - Cell Phone
We have found that the Verizon wireless USB modem works quite well. It uses cell phone towers. Other companies like AT&T should also work fine. I found that this modem works quite well and is much faster that the Hughes Network dish which transmits directly to and from a satellite using a dish. Next we bought a Wilson Cell Phone Trucker antenna. Using the Wilson amplifier booster will bring up the signal even more. But another feature of this amplifier is that it has an inside antenna which has a little plastic plate that you put behind your cell phone. You can lay the USB Verizon modem next to it. When we are in a cell phone fringe area we can put both our cell phones next to it along with the modem then when the phone rings it can be answered with the Blue Tooth so you don’t have to pick up the phone. Are you RV Full Time Compatable
Many people are not cut out to live in an RV full time. If you think you are RV compatable for full timing but your spouse doesn't share that feeling don't even try it. I suggest if you or your spouse thinks they might give it a try but aren't sure, don't burn all your bridges by selling your home, getting rid of everything except what fits into your RV. My suggestion is to get an RV and try some extended vacations. Then you might try going south for the winter or north for the summer. If that works out fine then upgrade for a bigger RV.
Some spouses need space from time to time. When the husband retires he might find it's a different world. There is no shop out back or large place to work on many hobbies. That does not mean you can't take hobbies with you. But if you have two four wheelers, bicycles and a boat to put on top there will be a time where you will overload your rig.
