Sep 1, 2010 Bike Mosier Twin Tunnels

September 2, 2010 Sandy and I teamed up with my sister Corleen (to us she goes by Corkie) and her husband Paul Johnson. We met them at Hood River Oregon and bicycled over the old Highway 30 trail through the Mosier Twin Tunnels and down to Mosier. The wives bicycled back through the tunnels and got the vehicles and picked us guys at the end of our ride in Rowena which is just west of The Dalles. The section of the old highway continuing east of Mosier is open to auto traffic. Next time you are traveling up the Columbia Gorge you need to take the old route over the Rowena point and take the switch-backs into The Dalles especially if you’ve never done it before.

On the first of September Sandy and I pulled the 5th wheel from Sunriver to Rufus on the Columbia River. The next morning we went to Hood River leaving the RV at Rufus. After our bicycle ride we hooked back up to the trailer and have moved to our daughter’s place in Ione. We plan to spend September here before we start working our way south for the winter.

How to View the Pictures

Before clicking on one of the thumbnails to see the slides you should enlarge the window as much as possible. The function key F-11 should give you a full screen. Now click on the first thumbnail to start the pictures. When you hover over the lower center of the picture you will see the arrows to click on to go forward or back. I suggest you advance the pictures manually rather than pushing the center one for the slide show. That will give you time to view and read the captions. To cancel the full screen, push the F-11 key again.
