Stonewall Peak
On November 10 we hiked a loop of 5 miles with many switchbacks and a 1100’ total climb. It was two miles to the top. Then we took the long route back making it into a loop. When we awoke that morning there was frost on the picnic table outside the RV. But by the time we had breakfast and drove to the trailhead it was up to 50 degrees. With only a sweater and a light jacket and no warm cap or gloves the chill factor got to us. The wind was really whooping it up. Our hands suffered the most. It’s hard to use walking sticks and put your hands in your pockets to warm them at the same time. The next day we bought stocking caps to keep in the day packs and use as needed. A pair of gloves will also be included with them. Now we should be ready for the winter here in Southern California even it is above 4000 foot altitude.
How to View the Pictures
Before clicking on one of the thumbnails to see the slides you should enlarge the window as much as possible. The function key F-11 should give you a full screen. Now click on the first thumbnail to start viewing the pictures. When you hover over the lower center of the picture you will see the arrows to click on to go forward or back. I suggest you advance the pictures manually rather than pushing the center one for the slide show. That will give you time to view and read the captions. To cancel the full screen, push the F-11 key again.
